Some days I just have to sit in my weakness. I’m a human being who wrestles with daily life and I can’t forget this important fact-I’ve only been sober 52 days! It is such a gift, don’t get me wrong! But sometimes I feel so immensely blessed that that my drinking days feel a world away from where I am now.
The sadness of today, for no particular reason, is just what it is. A down day. It doesn’t mean my sobriety is bad or that I have to do A, B, & C to feel better. It just is what it is.
Sometimes feeling all the humanity of ourselves is good. It’s what keeps us humble and compassionate. And rids us of any pride that we may acquire, unknowingly, on our good days. God is just as good on my “bad” days as my good days. Maybe even more so. ❤️
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
I have those days too…the feelings stink.
I had someone tell me the other day that SOBER is an acronym for Son Of a Bitch Everything is Real.

Very well said. I often over-generalize what is going on and and feel like I have to do something to get out the mood, whether it be with a drink (in the old days) or some sugary treat (now.). I could just let it be and not be threatened by it. Great perspective — I’m going to try it. ; )

Such a sweet post. I want to give you some encouragement. I was listening to a video portion of a bible study today on Deuteronomy. It was speaking for a moment about all the good things/the miracles that God did for His children while they were in the wilderness…(in rebellion I might add). He did it for His glory so that they would see how good He was, and all manner of other praiseworthy adjectives. It went on to explain how they were to cross over into the promised land and they should not ever forget all that God has done nor should they forget His commandments so that they would live well in the land. Why? Because He desired them (and US) to be set apart. He wanted all the other nations to set their eyes on His children and say WOW! What a God they have! We – you and I as His children – are now the miracle. We are the good things He has done. We are set apart to show the world what a GREAT God we have. It’s okay to be sad for today, but it doesn’t take away who you are in Jesus Christ. He loves you so much. See yourself as He sees you. His grace is always sufficient, thank you Lord!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am learning to sit in my sadness, too.
My down times doesn’t mean they will be down all day.

It will pass – most likely before the end of the day. Best thing about night is sleep and then the new day.

Since everyone else did so well at encouraging you, I just wanted to tell you that I Love that Tozer quote on the plaque. A. W. Tozer and Smith Wigglesworth are among my favorite men of God. You’re doing great. Don’t let yourself fall for the temptation to be Superwoman! Easy does it. ☺
